Welcome to Anatriptic Alchemy!
We're Xerlan & Christopher Deery, and we are thrilled you're here. Anatriptic Alchemy is our shared project, where we have created evidence-informed, person-centered continuing education for massage therapists. We have enjoyed teaching in hospitals, in several AMTA state chapters, the Society for Oncology Massage Healing Summit, the AMTA School Summit, and the AMTA National Conventions. We wanted to do more, though. Whether you're a massage therapist, bodyworker, educator, anatomy enthusiast, massage connoisseur, or simply curious, this space is for you.
This isn't just another massage blog—it's a space to think deeply about massage therapy and bodywork and that we have the honor of doing this with and for other amazing humans. A place where anatomy is poetry, movement is knowledge, and learning is lifelong. Where massage therapy and bodywork are both art and science."
With over 60 years of combined experience, our holistic approach, meeting humans where they are, utilizing our whole, dedicated selves, where clinical experience and scientific inquiry intersect to create meaningful and measurable therapeutic outcomes.
We intend to archive Xerlan’s blogs here, house Xerlan’s podcast here, and write a new article/newsletter twice a month. We will keep these FREE to read as soon they're published. With your free subscription, you will automatically receive them in your inbox.
We hope you find our work valuable. Voluntary paid subscriptions are welcome and appreciated. They may help sustain this space and motivate our pace. They may even be tax-deductible or reimbursable as professional development.
It is our intention that paid subscribers have access to live office hours on Substack, during which we can all have conversations about conscious practices and working with the body intelligently, ethically, and artistically.
We plan to keep chats open to all subscribers. However, if discussions become disrespectful or hostile, we may limit participation to paid subscribers only.
We are considering creating bonus resources—perhaps exclusive educational articles, book PDFs, special discussion threads, or even face-to-face meet-ups at events—just for paid or founding subscribers. No promises, but the possibilities are there. Please let us know what you would like.
Never miss an update—every new post is sent directly to your email inbox. For a spam-free, ad-free reading experience, plus audio and community features, get the Substack app.
